Memorial Day Parade~May 26th~
That's a Saturday: We need to know who

around 8pm. Those who are coming-- I believe everyone except Hannah can make
it-- are walking the llamas they normally handle. The Carminatis are taking
care of the candy this year. Also in case no one was aware of the fact--
December is cold people so wear your warm clothes! Not that I'm saying that
everyone lacks common sense-- just a reminder!:)
Fourth,
We
will not be participating in
the Saratoga County Fair this year as a 4-H Club. However, those who wish to
attend, work at the Snack Bar, enter crafts, etc. are welcome to do so.
The possibility of having a
Day of Fun at the fair-- Mrs. Carminati will be kindly looking into the
subject for us-- was discussed. Also, many people suggested having something
at the farm, which would possibly be connected to a hike or fundraiser.
Lastly,
PROJECTS!!
Future/possible
projects discussed at the meeting were:
~Making

John C. said he would be
able to teach us how to do so, as long as we supply the materials--which
only cost about $11.
Terri's example lead rope
looked beautiful!
~Ongoing Cart Project:
Cost of TOTAL brand new
cart said to be about $6-700
Refurnishing the seat
about $100
Trina and/or Taz will be
e-mailing John C. for further information regarding the cart.

Project Thingy:
Black and White,
hand-tinted pictures-- which look amazing if I do say so myself.
They can be made into
cards, donated to Gala Auction.
Possibility that the above
project will be held at the next meeting, that is if Terri receives the
pictures beforehand and in time.
So please send negatives, email digital pictures, or send CD with pictures
to Terri.

Will be decided through
email.

Receipts since last report. Expenditures since last report was a donation

The additional club
reports/ announcements highlight upcoming programs:
-Trina asked if anyone
would want to work with Jack-Jack, Dynesty or Junie before they get older.
-The club agreed that
working on the cart should start soon. We agreed that the cart needs new
tires and painting. Everyone needs to bug Gary about cutting the
whippletree for the cart because it is too long.
-Lindsey will
send e-mail out about possible dates to work on the cart
- We
talked about a few things about the Message board:
*Should we put
the quiz on it? Everyone agreed that the quiz should be put on.
*Should it be
open to the public? We were not sure about this.
*Should it be
used to talk about about only important things or to get in touch with
other people about anything? No decision was made.
-There were a few
ideas for future events:
*There could be
an egg hunt with the llamas around Easter and use the money as a
fundraiser
*There could be a
theme for costume class during the fair
Reminder:
Send Pictures for your assigned month to Heidi and Topher so they can put
it on the calendar online
The
Next meeting is Friday the 17th in the Public Extension office at 7 pm.
Lindsey Martin adjourned the meeting at 8:01 pm with the 4-H pledge.
Meeting
program: Dianne and Jeff gave us instructions on how use microscopes to
exam llama and horse feces for parasite eggs. Everyone had an opportunity
to mix feces in a salt flotation solution allowing any possible eggs to
float and adhere to a cover slip and then exam the cover slip on a slide
under a microscope. e are not sure, but we think we say some eggs!

January 2006 Meeting Minutes
Greetings my fellow 4-Hers!
The latest of our monthly 4-H meetings was held on Friday
the 13th at 7pm. There were twelve members present and two
guests: Heidi & Topher. Ryan gave the following financial report: as of last
report the balance on hand was $257.68. There were no receipts, and zero
expenditures made since the last report. The meeting was adjourned at 8:34.
The next meeting will be held on February 17th at 7 pm in the
Extension Offices.
Business Conducted During Meeting
The results of the voting were that we will be doing the
Flag Day Parade; more information concerning the details will come later. We
also will be camping; the place most likely will be Moreau. The idea of
going to North Hampton near Sacandaga Lake was brought up. The Carminatis
have been there before doing PR at a camp there and enjoyed the experience.
In visiting nursing homes, we will most likely be going
in the summertime. Teri was kind enough to look further into the subject for
us and found numerous places that would be willing to have us come and
visit. She also stated that we can get certified in therapy through Love On
a Leash, an organization that just needs a note from the vet stating the
animal is sound and meets the standards for therapy. Visiting schools namely
elementary ones was suggested.
Heidi and Topher discussed the 4-H website with the club.
Ideas included a monthly calendar- each member must select a picture to go
with their assigned month*. The pictures should be in jpg format and emailed
to Sarah. Polls/voting online, message boards (bloglike), posted minutes and
events, marquees on link, online quizzes, and slideshows were discussed. For
the slideshows members can make their own moviemaker (movie must be under 3
min.) and/or send pictures to Sarah and she will make them into a slideshow
for the members. Tagging the pictures was mentioned as a way of
copyrighting. Ideas for quizzes should be sent to either H&T or Becky who
will be able to make said ideas into actual quizzes. A mandatory day
for checking the website for news was instated, for every Friday.
A group photo was taken to be sent to SELR with the
donation. Everyone came out looking fab-u-lous!!
Trina asked that everyone be aware that Jack-Jack is
getting too friendly. Please no talking to him and use thumb to poke if he
is in your bubble. Trina requested that members read the 4-H highlights; she
likes to read them too!
Cheers!
Sarah Martin
Secretary
