November 5, 2005 The Woolly Llama Whisperers 4-H Club learned to use the
"John Mallon Training Techniques" on a new and very high strung/skittish
llama who boards at the farm. The llama, named "Spitfire" (guess how
he got his name!!!) presented quite a challenge.
Leader, Katrina Capasso, explained the
differences between a prey animal and a predator, and how a llama actually
thinks. Katrina got in the round pen with "Spitfire" and did some of
the actual techniques used to desensitize a llama. Then the kids were
invited in the round pen to practice themselves. It was a wonderful
learning experience for both the llama, "Spitfire," and for the 4-H members
and parents! |

| Hannah, our
newest 4-H member, recently received an awesome present from her parents,
Teri and John. His name is Martini and he is sure to win her many
ribbons at the fair! Congratulations Hannah, and welcome to the club! |
